William L. Cressler Sr., 80, of Dickinson Twp., Carlisle passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 in the Forest Park Health Care Center. He was born October 15, 1932 in Shippensburg, to the late William A. and Mildred Rose Shoap Cressler. A graduate of Carlisle High School Class of 1950, Bill also served in the US Air Force during the Korean War as a staff sergeant.

Bill retired from Ritter Brothers Construction and was a member for 50 years in Local Union # 214. He was a life member of BPOE # 578, where he served as a “Hot Dog King” for over 13 years.  Bill was also, a life member of the South Mountain American Legion #674, and a member of the Carlisle VFW # 477. He loved to hunt, especially archery which he did for over 50 years. Bill loved his children and grandchildren, whom he taught to hunt too and enjoyed the outdoors with them.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years; Della J. Hurlbert Cressler; his daughter, Cindy Lockard and husband Terry of Gardners; and his son, William L. Cressler, Jr. and wife Lorie, of Mt. Holly Springs. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Nathaniel (Alysha) Cressler of Chambersburg and Natasha Cressler of Mt. Holly Springs; two sisters, Jacqueline Lebo and June Sanders, both of Carlisle; and two deceased siblings, Dorothy Fitzpatrick and Richard Cressler.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 22, at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev. Clyde F. Smith Sr. officiating. Interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A visitation will be held Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
