William Lee Stambaugh

Mechanicsburg

William (Bill) Lee Stambaugh, 81, passed away on December 26, 2023, in Spring Creek Rehab and Health. He was born April 22, 1942, in Hanover, PA to the late Glenn and Jessie (McNew) Stambaugh.

He was a soft spoken, unselfish, hardworking/no excuse, driven family man with a huge heart.

He graduated from Northern York High School in 1960. Soon after, he spent six years serving in the Army National Guard.

He worked for McCoy Electronics, Black & Decker, and Ingersoll Rand, where he retired after 34 years. Having been a local racecar driver himself, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and dirt track racing in person or on TV. He also enjoyed working on his Economy tractors and attending auctions, local bands and festivals with his close family and friends. Plus, he also enjoyed spending time with many of his family’s furry friends.

Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Dolores (Yinger) Stambaugh of Mechanicsburg; his sons Rick Stambaugh (Traci) of Etters and Jeff Stambaugh (Jamie) of Mechanicsburg; his sisters Linda Davis, Jean Leer, Joanne Renard, Dianne Heimbach and Patricia Williams. Also surviving are his grandchildren Victoria Stambaugh of Charlotte, NC, Kayla Christen of Gum Springs, VA and Tanner Stambaugh of Etters and his great grandchildren, Raelynn and Leighton Christen as well as several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Michael Stambaugh.
