William M. “Bill” Grab, 85, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. He was born September 1, 1940 in Harrisburg, the second of 19 children born to the late Robert M. and Mary (Mahon) Grab.
Bill graduated with a Masters from Penn State and worked as Director of Residence Life and Housing and Director of Job Placement at Frostburg State College in Maryland from 1969 to 1988. After leaving academia, he owned and operated Merry Maids, Inc. of Frederick, Maryland for 10 years. He later sold the business, retired and focused on his personal well-being.
Bill was an avid gardener and found joy in spending his retirement years growing flowers and planting trees. Bird watching brought him much pleasure, especially seeing the squirrels tackle his squirrel-proof bird-feeders. He also loved skiing, kayaking, hiking, and the occasional round of golf (and swimming and bicycling in his younger days). He was an avid reader and even authored three books. He was also known to take two and on occasion three naps a day. He was quiet yet had a strong presence and a hearty laugh.
Surviving are his loving partner Constance “Connie” Ramsey; three sons, Daniel Grab and wife Tania, Joshua Grab and wife Leslie, and Adam Grab; grandchildren Noah McLaughlin, Garrett Thomas, Jordan Grab, Ethan Grab, Jessi Grab, and Delaney Grab; siblings Thomas, Joseph, Anne, Eileen, John, Patrick, Peggy, Kathleen, Daniel, David, Lucy, Edward, James, adopted brother Hien Nguyen, and brother-in-law Steven Weyland, and innumerable nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by first wife, Janet (Weyland) Grab and siblings Robert Grab, Mary (Grab) Buser, Michael Grab, Jean Grab, and George Grab.
In accordance with his wishes, Bill will be cremated, with arrangements for such being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs. Plans for a Celebration of Life and spreading of ashes will be determined at a later date.
In lieu of sending flowers, please consider planting some flowers or donating towards planting trees in Bill’s memory.
