Vina "Vi" M. Short, 89, of Harrisburg, PA passed away in the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg on July 1, 2018. She was born on January 20, 1929 in Altoona, PA. A mother and homemaker, she was married to Edward L. Short Jr. (Deceased) and raised four children, Emily "Corky" Short (Candy LaRue) of Harrisburg, John Short Sr. (Deceased), (estranged daughter) Nancy Skilton and Robert Short Sr. (Michelle) of Mt. Holly Springs.
She was the oldest of five sisters, Nancy Rabuck of Levittown, Pat Wise of Altoona, Joanne Becker of Philadelphia and Lois Harris of Fort Myers, FL. Vina also leaves behind numerous biological grandchildren and great-grandchildren to include those she loved as her extended granddaughters, Julie, Madison, Katie and Morgan Stadler.
In Vina's earlier years, she served as a volunteer at the Carlisle Hospital and was a member of senior clubs affiliates with AARP, Shamrock and the Association for the Blind. Over many years she enjoyed engaging in numerous activities as well as traveling on senior bus trips.
Regardless of what the occasion, prior to her stroke and relocation to long term care, Vina was known for the cards she would send to many as well as visiting her friends when hospitalized or home bound.
Vina had pre-arranged where upon her death, there be no viewing, however requested that a graveside service be held. Services will be on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mount Holly Springs, PA 17065.
A heart-felt thank you to all the compassionate and caring staff at the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg for the years of excellent care provided to make her stay there as pleasant as possible.
