Arlene is survived by her loving husband and faithful caregiver, Robert Axmacher; daughters, Diane Harrison of New Cumberland, PA and Nancy Knowlton (David) of Carlisle, PA; sister, Alma Stence (Josie) of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Timothy Dunham (Kimberly) of York Springs, PA and Adrian Stouffer (Jason) of Etters, PA; great grandchildren, Caden and Alaina Dunham and Tyson and Dane Stouffer and by a daughter-in-spirit, Cynthia Coldren of Elliotsburg, PA.  Arlene was also preceded in death by stepmother, Amy Zerbe, grandson, Todd Knowlton and son-in-law, R. Arlene worked as a bookkeeper for Preis Finance. In her free time, she loved cooking, traveling, playing Scrabble, doing jigsaw puzzles, and planting flowers in her beautiful garden. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Lemoyne, PA and belonged to the Little Flower Club in New Cumberland, PA.

From an early age, Arlene was progressive for her time, a constant champion of those otherwise not accepted by society. Arlene embraced lonely hearts, often opening her home for everyday meals and holidays. She came from a long line of those who cared and provided for others. Through her family leadership, this legacy of service will continue for many generations.

Arlene loved her family very deeply.  She had a tender heart, a generous spirit and a genuine consideration for others.  Her passing is a profound loss for all those she touched, both past and present.

Private graveside services and burial will be held at Zion Stone Valley Cemetery, 1899 Mountain Road, Dalmatia, PA 17017. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Downtown Daily Bread, 234 South Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101 and Safe Harbor, 102 W High St, Carlisle, PA 17013.
