Terry Alton Shopp

Terry Alton Shopp, 73, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, in the UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. He was born on June 5, 1950, in Carlisle to the late Alton and Ruth (Toner) Shopp. He was the widower of Christine C. (Pechart) Shopp who passed away in November of 2018.

Terry graduated from Carlisle High School in 1968. He worked at Carlisle Tire & Wheel from 1968 until 2011 when he accepted a position at Mt. Holly Specialty Paper, Inc., as a control engineer where he was “keeper of the machines”. When he started his position in 2011, he marveled over the fact that he would retire from the same plant his mother did. He never did retire because he loved making “his” machines work.

Surviving are his children, Nicole (Scott) Meals of Carlisle, Karl (Jacquelyn) Shopp of Carlisle, and Tyler Shopp of Carlisle; grandchildren, Regan and Jonas Meals; sister, Sher Rehr of Everett, Washington; and his beloved fur companions, his rescue dog; Angus, and cat; Kahula.

There will be no services at this time, as Terry would want you to spend time outdoors with your family and dogs instead of mourning his life. A love of all life celebration will be planned for the family at a later date.
