Ross E. Starner, 79, of Carlisle, PA, passed away December 23, 2023. He was born May 11, 1944, in Hanover, PA, to the late Lester F. and Maybelle M. (Showers) Starner.

Ross graduated from the Valley Forge Military Academy and obtained his bachelor’s in accounting from Waynesburg University. He went on to work for the Pennsylvania State Government and later became the Comptroller for the Pennsylvania state government before retiring after 38 years of service. Ross loved hunting, traveling all over the world pursuing his passion for hunting. He belonged to numerous hunting clubs and camps throughout his life.

Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Bonnie (Group) Starner of Carlisle; sons, Todd Starner of Mt. Holly Springs, and Mark Starner (Brenda) of Gardners; grandchildren, Joshua Starner (Braydon), Jeremiah Starner (Jenilyn), Jacob Starner (Amanda), Sarah Starner, Amber Jones (Tarence), and Taylore Brownewell; and nine great-grandchildren. Also Surviving is his sister Dorale Frykman of Gardners and favorite furry companion, Rudi. Ross was preceded in death by his brother Terry Starner.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family and burial will take place in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9378, 2595 Interstate Dr suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
