Bob was a 1957 graduate of Carlisle High School. After high school, Bob entered the Marine Corps, graduating from boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina as a Private First Class. Following duty as a member of the Marine Guard at the N.S.A. outside of Washington, DC, and a deployment in Southeast Asia, Bob returned to Parris Island as a Drill Instructor, finishing his career as a Sergeant.

His proudest moments were spent with his family, and he particularly looked forward each year to hunting with his grandsons and nephews. Bob was the king of dad jokes and master storyteller. In addition, Bob was passionate about football, especially his beloved Penn State Nittany Lions. He also played semi-pro football in the 1960’s with the Cumberland Colts and maintained friendships with several of his former teammates for years afterward. Retirement gave Bob plenty of time to enjoy traveling with his wife.

Bob began his 36-year career with AMP, Inc., while simultaneously earning his engineering degree at Penn State Harrisburg, then as a design engineer for AMP until his retirement.

In 1999, Bob married M. Kathleen Snyder. They enjoyed 27 years of traveling and enjoying all their grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Snyder, his daughter, Andrea Balio; step-children, Cynthia (Don) Mauk, Melinda (Gene) Wilson, Baird (Kathy) Brehm, Lisa (Jeff) Nesbit and Jeannette (Wes) Beard. He was the proud “Poppy” or “Pappy Bob” to his loving numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his loving sister, Pam (Ben) Dressler; his son-in-law, Tony Biata; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Bobby.
