Robert J. Heberlig, Jr.

Robert Joseph Heberlig Jr. (Bob), 89, of Carlisle, went to be with God and his beloved wife Joyce on January 14, 2023. Born January 9, 1934, in North Middleton Township, he was the son of the late Robert J. Heberlig Sr. & Ruth Quigley Heberlig and the husband of the late Joyce Arlene Rynard Heberlig. 

After graduating from Carlisle Senior High School, Robert married Joyce Rynard in June 1954. He then joined the US Air Force working as an electronic production repairman and was based in Fairbanks, Alaska.  He retired with an honorable discharge and received a Good Conduct Medal.

He was a former employee of Standard Equipment Company, Peter J. Schweitzer’s Paper Mill in Mt. Holly and Dickinson College before retiring.

Bob built his own house in Gardners, Pa before moving to Carlisle.  Robert was a member of the United Methodist Church in Carlisle, an avid fan of classic cars and loved his dogs Jake, Britney, and Bella.  Robert also loved to travel out west with his dog Jake, wood working, square dancing, and Jeff Dunham’s Walter.  He enjoyed his garden filled with sunflowers and most of all he just wanted you to be happy.

Surviving is his brother Randol P. of Carlisle, and his five sisters, Janet L. Rudolph of Anchorage, Alaska, Genevieve J. Fitting and Gloria M. Jumper, both of Carlisle, Joyce H. Edmiston of Enola, and Joann H. Cohick of Newville.  Also surviving is his son, Gary Heberlig (Susan Heberlig) of Spearfish, South Dakota, Terry Shank (Ed Bidelspach) of Carlisle and Tracie Sola (Dr. Ivan Sola) of Boiling Springs.  Along with 8 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grand Children.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Avenue, Mt Holly Springs, PA with Pastor Steve Salisbury officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services and burial will be held at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle after. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to Speranza Animal Rescue, 1216 Brandt Road, Mechanicsburg, Pa 17055, for his love of dogs or consider planting some sunflowers this summer to make the world a better place and a remembrance of Robert.
