Robert Cornman

Robert W. Cornman, 83, of Carlisle and formerly of Gardners where he owned Cornman’s Christmas Tree Farm, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born August 24, 1930 in Carlisle, to the late Clarence & Clara J. Kutz Cornman.  Employed as a butcher all of his life, Bob retired from Jane’s Market, Biglerville and previously worked at Leo’s Dairy and Enders Market. He attended the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, Carlisle. Bob loved putting puzzles together and hunting. He enjoyed watching the Phillies  baseball team and the University of Kentucky basketball team on TV while coaching from his chair at home.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Martha Carey Cornman; a daughter, Brenda K. (Steven) Bretz of Carlisle; daughter-in-law, Suzanne I. Cornman of Mt. Holly Springs; two granddaughters, Kristin M. Pigeon of NC and Blair I. Cornman, VMD of TN; and a great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his daughter, Beverly L. Cornman who died April 26, 1970 and his son, Delmar W. Cornman who passed away February 7, 2004. Also surviving is his brother G. Leon Cornman of Carlisle. Bob was predeceased by his sister, Marion Simmons and his brothers, Earl, Kenneth, Paul and Harold.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs with the Rev. Daniel Mikesell and Rev. Leon Blosser officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Westminster Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ortenzio Heart Center for Research, 503 N. 21st, Camp Hill, PA 17011, his church, Wesleyan Church of the Cross, 430 B St., Carlisle, PA 17013, or the Toland Mission, C/O Gene Baptisti, 700 Mumper Lane, Dillsburg, PA 17019.
