Robert Allen

Robert Wilbur Allen, 83, of South Middleton Twp., passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in the Hershey Medical Center. He was born April 26, 1934, in Dry Run, PA to the late Wilbur and Ness Bair Allen.Robert was the widower of Dolores Mae Mowery Allen who passed away May 23, 2017.

Bob retired as the owner and operator of the Nationwide Insurance Agency, Mt. Holly Springs with 30 years of service. He was an Air Force Veteran and former employee of Letterkenny Army depot for 20 years. His memberships include: Carlisle First Church of God, where he served on many committees, Co- founder of the Holly Festival, Dry Run American Legion #232, for over 24 years, Mt. Holly Springs Lions Club and the former Mt. Holly Springs Business Association. He loved to hunt, fish and watch baseball.

Surviving is his daughter, Gwenda L. Shank of Shippensburg; three sons, Bradley S. Allen of Lancaster, Steve E. Allen of Shippensburg, and Kent M. Allen of Hagerstown, MD; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, John C. Allen of Orrstown; and step-children, Dolores K. Bingaman of Shippensburg and Russell "Rusty" White of Mechanicsburg. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Doris J. Harry, Dorothy Allen, Eugene G. and Joe L. Allen and step son George "Bud" White.

Services will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065. A viewing will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Poe and Rev. Edward Rosenberry officiating. Burial will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Mausoleum with the Cumberland County Honor Guard conducting honors.
