Richard E. Trostle, 87, of Carlisle, PA and formerly of Mt. Holly Springs, PA passed away peacefully on May 6, 2014 in the Thornwald Home. He was born on July 1, 1926, to the late Lawrence and Gretna Trostle. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Winifred VanAsdalan Trostle. Richard is survived by his only son, David; his daughter-in-law, Karen; and grandson, Matthew, all of Churchton, MD.

A retired Carlisle High School biology teacher, Richard loved flowers, enjoyed planting vegetables and landscaping. He was a big collector of Lionel O Gauge trains and built a massive train layout to share with friends and the community at Christmastime. Woodworking was another favorite pastime; Richard built furniture and many objects for the house. An adventurer at heart, he traveled extensively with his family in the United States and Europe and was also an avid Chesapeake Bay boater. He enjoyed playing the Coronet and Organ.

Graveside Memorial and Burial Service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11:00AM in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Hench officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God, 705 Glendale St., Carlisle, PA 17013.

Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA. Condolences to the family may be made at www.hollingerfuneralhome.com.
