Richard “Bub” Stone, Sr., 84, of Dillsburg, PA, passed away on May 2, 2025, in the Penn State Hampton Medical Center in Mechanicsburg. He was born September 17, 1940, in Enola to the late William E. and Elizabeth (Brooks) Stone, Sr., and was the widower of Faye C. (Vaughn) Stone of 60 years.
Bub worked for Jones Motor Company, where he started at the age of 17, until they went out of business. He then went onto work for Pilot Freight, who also went out of business. Bub then landed a job with ABF Freight where he was a yard jockey and dock worker up until his retirement. His memberships include the Yellow Breeches Anglers and the Williams Grove Old Timers Association. In his spare time, Bub enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.
Surviving are his children, Richard Stone, Jr., (Kay) of Enola, Tina Hess (David) of Delaware, and David Stone of New Freedom, PA; grandchildren, Crystal Hammond and Chad Stone; three siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bub was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Ormsbee and four siblings.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Harmony Church of God (Pavilion), 3 Clear Spring Rd, Dillsburg, PA 17019 with nephew, Clyde Staub officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service in the church pavilion and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
