Patti Jean Hughes

Patti Jean Hughes, 83, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, in the LeTort Spring Nursing and Rehab in Carlisle. She was born January 12, 1943, in Harrisburg to the late Jonas and Dorothy (Wissinger) Cassel. Patti was the widow of both of her husbands, Paul Malinich and Edward Hughes.

Patti retired from Masland Associates as a lab supervisor after working there for 38 years. She also taught Aerobics at the YMCA in Carlisle. She was an aerobics instructor through the YMCA and taught classes at several local locations. Patti was a dancer in the Carlisle Follies and also danced on TV Teen Time in her youth. She also enjoyed playing racquetball and volleyball at the YMCA. She was a member of the Barnitz Church where she also served on the missions committee.

Surviving are her children, Paul Malinich (Barb) of East Pennsboro and Lisa Cannell (Dan) of Port Clinton, OH; grandchildren, Katie, Andrew, Josiah, and Daniel; three great-grandchildren, Weston, Zayden, and Adalee; and sister, Virginia “Ginny” Laird (Dave) of Media, PA. She is also survived by her beloved dog Oscar, who brought her much joy and comfort through her final years.

Memorial Services will be held Monday, September 14 at 11:30 AM followed by a meal in the Barnitz Church, 23 Church Lane, Carlisle, PA 17015 with Pastor Matt Plant officiating. Burial will take place in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Carlisle at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090‑6011 or Barnitz Church (address above). Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs.
