Patricia Lehman

November 13, 1929 — October 25, 2018

Patricia Ruth Lehman of Newville, Pennsylvania went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 25th, surrounded by family in her beloved farmhouse.

The family would like to thank all of the friends who prayed for Pat in the last couple of months and for the amazing medical team, Dr. Pion, FNS, and Carlisle Hospital, who took such great care of Pat.

All who spent even a short moment with Pat knew she was a woman of strong faith, with a servant’s heart, and an abiding love for others. Born in November 1929, in New Germantown, Perry County, Patricia’s beginnings were far from easy; not that her joyful heart and caring soul would ever indicate the hardships she continuously overcame. In May 1950, Pat married the love of her life Ray Lehman. Theymoved to Newville where they created a loving home and family, a thriving farm, and a legacy of service to their community. Pat was an active participant in the local Lutheran Church. Shededicated her time as aSunday school teacher, served on the church council and in Luther League, as well asministering through her musical talentsin church. Pat was involved in many different community services including Cumberland County Farm Women, 4H, Election Board, PTA, Trauma Society, and Carlisle Area Healthcare Auxiliary (where she also successfully co-chaired the Follies fundraiser for many years). She loved music: singing in the church choir, being a band booster, and, best of all, passing her musical skills and passion onto her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved camping, beach trips, pond parties, cooking, animals and sports---especially cheering on her Nittany Lions. She was the most gracious of listeners and could always provide you with a heart-felt encouraging statement. But most of all, Pat loved her family and friends with an unselfish, over-giving, unending passion that has forever left a mark on each of us. Her love for her family laced her every breath and she worked hard to give them more than she ever could have imagined for herself.

Carrying on her great mission of love and service is her husband of 68 years Ray J. Lehman; her daughter Deborah Waltemyer with her granddaughter Desirae Ford and husband Brian with great-grandchildren Wiley and Walker; her son Dale Lehman and wife Mary with her grandchildren Allison, Ryan, Rory, and Caroline; her daughter Denise Garman and husband Brian Sr with her grandson Brian Garman Jr and wife Kim; her granddaughter DarbieMiller and husband Ryan with great-grandchildren Delaney and Reid;and a multitude of extended family, and friends who became family, of which there are too many to name here. Pat is now joyously in heaven with her son-in-law Galen Waltemyer, where we are confident she is hosting her best Thanksgiving party yet.

She will remain in our hearts as we continue to build on her lifetime legacy of love and service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her honor be sent to Carlisle AreaHealthcare Auxiliary,c/o Patricia Lehman Scholarship Fund,361 Alexander Spring Road, Carlisle, PA 17015.

A Memorial Service for Pat will be held November 11, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 51 W. Main Street, Newville, PA 17241, with Rev. Amy Wagner officiating. It will be a true “white out” celebration honoring Pat’s life as well as her deep love for Penn State.Be sure to come in your best Nittany White! WE ARE…celebrating a wonderful life!
