Mary A. Starner

Mary A. Starner, 87, of Gardners, PA, passed away, Friday, April 26, 2024, at her residence. She was born March 25, 1937, in Carlisle to the late Carl Arthur and Ruth (Miller) Goodling and was the widow of Lowell C. Starner, who passed away December 24, 2019.

Mary was a Carlisle High School graduate, Class of 1965 and went on to work for the local paper mill. She was a homemaker for much of her life, purchasing the family homestead in 1957. Mary was a very loving mother, focusing all her time and energy on being the best mother she could possibly be. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church (Goodyear) and participated in the church’s ladies aid.

Surviving are her children, Wendy Toms (James) of Gardners, Michael Starner (fiancé, Dee Nash) of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Tara and Lindsay Toms, Haley, Leia, Brayden and Luke Starner; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Carlisle Road, Gardners, PA 17324, with Pastor Eric Snyder. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place following the service in the Goodyear Cemetery, Gardners.
