Marian L. Swick, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 24, 2013.

Marian was born on August, 31, 1918, in Marcus Hook, PA, but lived most of her life in Somerville, New Jersey. She moved to York Springs, PA in 1982 after her retirement, to be with her son and family. She was a resident of Gettysburg Lutheran Retirement Village, Gettysburg, PA.

Marian graduated from Somerville (NJ) High School in 1937 and a secretarial school for two years.  She was a member of the Eastern Star, AARP, Gettysburg Walking Club, Upper Bermudian Lutheran Parish, Gardners. She is a former employee of Ethicon by Johnson and Johnson as a quality control inspector, in Somerville, New Jersey.

Marian loved her family and her cat, Friskie. They were the center of her life. She spent many hours knitting sweaters, scarves, prayer shawls, and baby blankets, as well as making quilts for charity and family.  She looked forward to family gatherings, Christmas, and visits with family, friends, grandchildren, and great-grand children.  Her family and friends were the center of her life.

She is survived by her son, Rev. Kenneth G. Swick and his wife, Anne, grandchildren, Christopher Mech, William C. Swick, Mary Ellen Love, Rachel Swick Mavity, Eden Terry Hade, Kendra Swick, and six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She is pre-deceased by her husband, Wilton G. Swick, her three sisters, a brother, and daughter, Bonnie Mae Mech.

Professional services are being handled by Hollingers Funeral Home in Mt. Holly Springs. There will be a memorial service at the Lutheran Retirement Village, Gettysburg on September 7, 2013 at 4:00 pm. Interment will be at Upper Bermudian Lutheran Church, Gardners, PA, on October 12, 2013.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or Upper Bermudian Lutheran Church, Gardners, PA. Condolences to the family may be made at www.hollingerfuneralhome.com.
