Lonny Harold Rice

Lonny Harold Rice, 84, of Gardners, PA, passed away on April 16, 2025, in his home. He was born May 21, 1940, in Gettysburg to the late Harold C. and Loretta I. (Group) Rice.

In his younger years, Lonny lived with his parents on their family farm, where he also worked with his father. Additionally, he worked a seasonal job at Knouse Foods and would drive his dad’s truck to Florida and back to deliver apples for their family’s fruit market. Lonny enjoyed attending local farmers markets and loved living a simple life. He occasionally attended Midway Gospel Tabernacle, Carlisle, PA.

Surviving are his siblings, Linda Murtoff (Laird) of Gardners and Marlin W. Rice (Darlene) of FL; sister-in-law, Carrie Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lonny was preceded in death by his brother, Frederick Rice.

A graveside service will be held Monday, April 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, 1921 Ritner Hwy, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Jason Turner officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church, Midway Gospel Tabernacle, 31 Heisers Lane, Carlisle, PA 17015. Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs.
