Lewis Dando

October 20, 1928 — September 22, 2017

Lewis “Lew” Dando passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Essex House in Lemoyne, PA.  Born October 20, 1928 in Llewellyn, PA,  he was the 6 th son and 10 th child (of 12) to Ruby C. (Dietrich) and Thomas R. Dando.

After graduating from Cressona High School, Lew enlisted in the U.S. Airforce and served as a Staff Sergeant from 1950-54 at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, SD.  On June 9, 1956, he married Patricia Pellish in Minersville, PA and in 1968 they moved to Mechanicsburg, PA.

A long-time employee of Bell Telephone, he retired as Assistant Manager of Land and Building Planning and Design in 1983.  As avid campers and "RV’ers," Lew and Pat enjoyed many winters camping in Florida and Texas.

Lew’s favorite pastime was sitting in the driveway of his house and engaging neighborhood children and friends in minor projects, games and pleasant conversation on a daily basis.

Lew is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat Dando; a son, Neal Dando (Jonell Kerkhoff); and his daughters, Luanne Gramm (Bob Stoner), and Janice Morris(Mike Laub). In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Kerrick and Adam Dando, Rachel and Brett Gramm, and Brandon and Colby Morris and a great grandchild, Nalia Gramm.
