Lester M. Thumma, Jr.

Lester M. Thumma, Jr., 83, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on June 1, 2025, in the Cumberland Crossings Nursing Home in Carlisle. He was born December 6, 1941, in Carlisle to the late Lester M. and Sara F. (Diller) Thumma, Sr. He was the widower of Marjorie A. (Swartz) Thumma who passed away in May of 2019.

Lester was a United States Army Veteran and worked for IBM in Mechanicsburg as a Computer Technician. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carlisle.

Surviving are his children, Eric A. Thumma (Courtney Lane) of Boston, MA and Emily E. (Brian) McDonald of Carlisle; grandchildren, Iris and Ingrid McDonald; and brother, William E. Thumma of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to his parents and wife, Lester was preceded in death by his sister, Sally A. Self.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 W Louther St, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Titus Clarke officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, P.O. Box 61420, Staten Island, NY 10306. Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs.
