John R. Watson, 89, of Carlisle, PA, passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 in the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 28, 1930 in Carlisle to the late Earl and Mary (Bouder) Watson. John worked as a truck driver for various companies, including Wilson Paving, Barrick and Stewart Milk Hauling, Allen Distribution and C.H. Masland & Sons. He was a member of the Mt. Rock United Methodist Church and enjoyed collecting models and trucks.
Surviving is his loving wife, Janet (Rocky) Watson; children, Mary Glunt and Don (Debra) Watson, both of Carlisle and Jeff Watson of Newville; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Edna Mae Burkett of Newville and Betty Walters of Carlisle. John was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Hurley, son-in-law, Gary Glunt, granddaughter, Mallory Marie Watson, and siblings, Janet Peters, Clarence and Earl Watson. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 and burial was in the Dickinson Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements were handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
