John W. Steigleman, Jr.

John W. Steigleman, Jr., 85, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on December 16, 2023, in the Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital due to complications of Covid. He was born June 6, 1938, to the late John W. and Gladys A. (Kerns) Steigleman.

John retired from Dickinson College where he served 40 years working as a Lab Technician in the Physics and Astronomy Department. He enjoyed researching the geology of his family and the history of the Carlisle area. John also wrote a book called “Growing up in Carlisle PA in the 40s and 50s.”

He also enjoyed Military History and was an avid follower of the TV series “Oak Island”. John also enjoyed studying astronomy. John was the oldest of seven siblings.

Surviving John is his loving wife of 63 years, Joan M. (Mell) Steigleman; daughter, Lisa Marie Steigleman; siblings, Dawn Garner, Gerald Steigleman, Judy Poist, and Edward Steigleman. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Dennis Steigleman and Paula McCart.
