Jean Isabelle (Hykes) Day

Nov 17, 1937 — Jul 25, 2026

Jean Isabelle (Hykes) Day, 11/17/1937-7/25/2026, daughter of the late Charles Hykes and Pearl (Golden) Hykes, widow of John Philip Day, passed peacefully in her daughter's home.

Jean preferred to live a simple life, enjoying long walks, gardening, reading, and various volunteer efforts. Her one indulgence was travel, which began with camping trips with her family. Eventually her travels took her to all 50 states, many multiple times. Her first international trip took her to Spain, and then later she traveled to many other countries. Highlights of her travels included kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland, taking a hot air balloon ride over Kenya, and walking on the Great Wall of China.

Jean was one of ten children. She is survived by four siblings, Margaret (Peg), William (Bill), June, and Dorothy (Dot). She is also survived by her two children, Roger Day and wife, Kim, Judith (Day) Juzefyk and husband, Tom; three granddaughters, Cassie, Rebekah, and Rachel; and many nieces and nephews.

Jean worked as a secretary at Musselmans, Carlisle Tire & Rubber, and retired from the Big Spring School District. She was a member of the West Hill United Methodist Church for many years.

Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs.
