Jean Finkenbinder

Jean I. Wetzel Finkenbinder, 88, of Carlisle, PA passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in her home. Born February 2, 1929 in Carlisle Springs, PA to the late David C. and Aletha Karns Wetzel; she was the widow of Ralph W. Finkenbinder who passed away August 12, 2012 after 64 years of marriage.

As a busy farmer’s wife and mother of three children,  Jean  maintained an impeccable vegetable garden and flower beds, and enjoyed feeding the birds and painting. During her working career, she was employed at the Carlisle County Club, worked as a seamstress for the Dickinson College Athletic Department for 13 years and retired from the Holly Inn, as banquet manager. Joyce attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church and was a member of the Keystone Snow Goers.

She is survived by her son, Dennis W. Finkenbinder of Boiling Springs; two daughters, Cindy and William Grove of Boiling Springs and Brenda and Wayne Durnin of Liberty Lake, Washington; and her grandson, Jason R. (Amanda) Grove of Gardners. Also surviving are five siblings; Glenn Wetzel of Plainfield, Dorothy Lamason, Margorie Haus, Robert Wetzel and Kenneth Wetzel, all of Carlisle and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Marlin Wetzel.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 12 Noon in the Letort Cemetery, 1173 Claremont Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Daniel L. Dennis officiating. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 647 Forge Rd., Carlisle, PA 17015 for a luncheon and time of fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Yellow Breeches EMS, 233 Mill St., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 or the United Methodist Home for Children, 5120 Simpson Ferry Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Online condolences may be made to www.hollingerfuneralhome.com
