Jane Clepper

March 23, 1923 — November 4, 2018

Jane Kutz Clepper, 95, of Boiling Springs (Carlisle) passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018, surrounded by family.  She was the widow of Gerald “Mose” Clepper with whom she was married for 51 years.  Jane was born in Harrisburg, March 23, 1923 to the late Lottie Shaffer and Victor Kutz and was also the step-daughter of Lloyd Rhodes.

Having spent most of her life in Boiling Springs, she always cherished her memories of growing up in a small town where everyone knew and supported each other.  Graduating in the Boiling Springs High School Class of 1942, she was a member of the women’s basketball team.  Shortly after graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Mose Clepper.  They had four children, eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Early in her life, she was a member of the Boiling Springs Methodist Church and the Otterbein United Methodist Church.  For the past 25(+) years she has been an active member of the Tree Of Life Church in Carlisle.  Following the calling to serve, Mrs. Clepper was a Christian counselor at the Cumberland County Prison and she was an active nursing home visitor throughout the Carlisle area.  She retired from the Defense Department US Navy Supply Depot as a Data Center Supervisor.  Jane was a Life Member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8851 of Boiling Springs.

She is survived by daughters, Penny Thompson and husband, Jim of Linfield, Candace Frock and husband, Jeff of Hanover, and Stacey Gibb and husband, Steve of Newville and a son, Dean Clepper and wife, Vicki of Boiling Springs. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Collin Kevin and brothers, Clarence (Jim) Rhodes and David Kutz

The family is appreciative to the Thornwald Home nurses, aides, Dr. Daniels, and support staff for their care and dedication to our mother’s health and welfare during her past 5 years with them.  We were fortunate to encounter so many people that sincerely cared for our mother as a patient and a person.  The home and residents became our extended family.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Jane Clepper will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 12:30 PM in the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 647 Forge Rd., Carlisle, PA, with Rev. David Herr and Rev. Bruce Fensterbush officiating. A visitation with the family will start at 11:45 AM until the service. Following the service, a time of sharing and a light luncheon with family and friends will be held. Private interment in Westminster Memorial Gardens will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tree of Life Church, 50 K St., Carlisle, PA 17013. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt.
