James E. "Ziggy" Zygmunt, 75, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. He went “up to the spirit in the sky” to join the family and friends who had gone before him.
Jim was the son of the late Stanley J. and Kathryn (Martin) Zygmunt of Mount Holly Springs. He was a 1969 graduate of Carlisle High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Jim worked at and retired from the Navy Depot.
Jim loved the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and taking rides through wooded trails in his camouflage golf cart. He had a passion for adventure and was always building something — decks, retaining walls, log sheds, and handcrafted furniture. Jim was known for his strong work ethic, unique sense of humor, and his unforgettable way with words. He was a fighter to the very end.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage; his son, Kevin Zygmunt and wife Christin; his brothers, Kenneth Zygmunt and wife Cheryl, and David Zygmunt and wife Tracee; his granddaughter, Molly Zygmunt and her fiancé, Hunter; and his grandson, Eric Zygmunt, currently serving in the USAF, and wife Libby, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arrangements will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Jim will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Visit HollingerFuneralHome.com to offer condolences to the family.
