IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Anthony
McMullen
September 9, 1964 – March 30, 2026
James A. McMullen, of Gardners, PA, born September 9, 1964, in Yonkers, NY, passed away surrounded by the people who loved him most. Jim lived with a big heart, and a spirit that made every room a little brighter. He had a gift for making others laugh — sometimes with a joke, sometimes with a look.
A proud graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Jim took pride in his work as a chef, and former owner of The Bread Shoppe in Carlisle. When he wasn’t in the kitchen, Jim enjoyed taking his Harley out for a long ride. He was always getting into something, a new project around the house, or working on his bike in the garage.
Jim was a hard worker in every sense — someone who showed up, gave his best, and never shied away from doing what needed to be done. But above all, family was everything to him. He loved them fiercely, supported them endlessly, and made sure they always knew how much they mattered.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosa; his son, James McMullen; his daughters, Sarah Melchior (Cory) and Sophia McMullen; and his stepchildren, Monica Maniaci and Joe Maniaci. He is also survived by his mother, May Anderson, and her husband, Bill; his brothers, Kevin McMullen (Elisa) and Ralph McMullen (April); and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, James F. McMullen.
Jim will be remembered for his contagious smile, his fun-loving personality, his strength and his commitment to his family. He made life better just by being in it. His absence leaves a space that can’t be filled, but his love and his stories will stay with all who knew him.
He lived fully, loved deeply, and worked hard for the people he cared about. He will be missed more than words can say.
