Harry E. Kelso, 80, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 23, 1946, Harry was the son of the late Harry F. and Ailie Mae (Fraker) Kelso. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Fetteroff, and brother-in-law, Raymond Fetteroff.

A graduate of Big Spring High School, Class of 1964, Harry continued his education at Shippensburg University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and later a Master of Business Administration.

Harry honorably served his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he remained committed to serving his community. He dedicated many years to local government, serving as a Township Supervisor for North Middleton Township and as a member of the North Middleton Township Planning Commission. Through his leadership and dedication, he helped guide the growth and development of the community he loved.

He was a Life Member of the Carlisle Elks Lodge #578 and a Life Member of the VFW.

He retired from the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot FMSO in 2004. After his retirement, he spent many years as a substitute teacher in West Perry School District.

Above all else, Harry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared a loving marriage of almost 53 years with his wife, Linda Cook Kelso and took great pride in spending time with his son and granddaughters. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jason E. Kelso, daughter-in-law, Melissa L. Kelso; and his granddaughters, Jolene Kelso and Brynn Kelso, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Darlene Thumma (Gerald), his brother, Glenn Kelso (Vonda), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harry found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time with his family, working in his garden, coaching baseball, and fishing. Whether casting a line on a quiet morning, cheering on young athletes from the dugout, or gathering with loved ones, he created lasting memories and touched countless lives with his kindness, wisdom, and steady presence.

Those who knew Harry will remember him as a man of integrity, service, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the community he served, and the many lives he influenced through his example.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

Private services will be held at Waggoners Church. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to support those causes dear to Harry by making a memorial contribution to Shippensburg University Foundation or Project Share of Carlisle as a tribute to his life of service and commitment to helping others.
