Harold L. Clippinger, 93, husband, father, PopPop and friend, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, in the UPMC West Shore Hospital. He was born on August 13, 1932, in Carlisle to the late John M. and Blanche E. (Fulton) Clippinger.

Harold, in his younger years, worked on the family farm. He then drove a bread truck for Capital Bakers before being employed by Quaker Oats where he was a machine operator. He retired from Quaker Oats after 28 years of service. Harold was a champion horseshoe pitcher, at 17 years of age being the youngest champion at the Pennsylvania Farm Show and at one time was ranked 28th in the world. Harold viewed his horseshoe pitching talent as a gift from God. Harold was a very active member of the Wesleyan Church of the Cross in Carlisle serving as a Sunday School Superintendent and Adult Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the National Horseshoe Pitcher’s Association.

Surviving is his loving wife of 72 years, Ethel E. (Cook) Clippinger of Mechanicsburg; children, Dennis D. Clippinger (Anita) of Lawton, OK, Richard A. Clippinger (Patti) of Waterford, CT, Timothy L. Clippinger (Sherry) of Mt. Holly Springs, Ellen M. Iorfido of Lewisberry, Sue A. Clippinger of New Cumberland, Daniel B. Clippinger of Lewistown, and Anthony L. Clippinger (Erin) of Midlothian, VA; seven grandchildren Lindsay, Thomas, Kaci, Aaron, Alex, Jack and Abby; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Barrett, Riley, Brantley, Lily and Rowan and three step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Wilma Clippinger, and many nieces and nephews including Thomas (Joan) Clippinger. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his siblings, Kathryn E. Fenton, John W. Clippinger, Kenneth E. Clippinger, and James Mark Clippinger and his beloved son-in-law, Barry L. Iorfido.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. in the Camp Hill United Methodist Church, 417 S. 22nd Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011 with The Reverend Daniel R. Mikesell officiating. Private burial will take place in the Waggoners Cemetery, Carlisle.
