Boiling Springs

Fred McConnell, of Boiling Springs, PA, PA, formerly of Jefferson Borough, PA & Linesville PA, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at Masonic Village, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 92 years old.

Born in New Castle, PA, on September 20, 1932, Fred lived a life marked by devotion to family, a love of the outdoors, and a deep commitment to community. He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Gail Glenn McConnell, and their four loving children: Glenn McConnell (Sandy), Jack McConnell (Candace), Colleen Jakubovic, and Sean McConnell (Lisa). Fred was a proud grandfather to Bill McConnell, Jason McConnell, Chad McConnell, Shane Jakubovic, Sarah Jakubovic, and Remington McConnell, and a cherished great-grandfather to Carli McConnell, Colton Jakubovic, Kinsley White, Quin Jakubovic, Novak Jakubovic, and Roman Jakubovic.

Fred was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, training bird dogs, and trap shooting. He was a longtime member of the American Amateur Trapshooting Association and actively participated in the Clairton and Library Sportsman’s Clubs. His passion for nature and sport was matched only by his dedication to family and friends.

A proud Mason for over 70 years, Fred was a member of Polaris Lodge No. 375 in McKeesport, PA. His life was guided by the values of integrity, service, and fellowship.

Fred worked as a carpenter before retiring as an independent insurance agent. In retirement, he and Gail operated the Spillway concession in Linesville, PA—fondly remembered as the place “where the ducks walk on the fish.” It was a labor of love that brought joy to countless visitors and created lasting memories for their family.

A special thanks is extended to the staff of Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, where Fred received compassionate and loving care throughout the final years of his life. Their kindness and dedication made them an extended family to Fred and his loved ones, and their support will never be forgotten.

A private service will be held to honor Fred’s life.
