Francis Saphore

Francis L. (Frank) Saphore, 79, Retired Staff Sergeant, U.S. Air Force, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in the Holy Spirit Hospital. He was born November 17, 1933 in D&M Junction, Monroe Twp., Cumberland County, PA to the late Daniel W. Sr. and Alice A. Greenwood Saphore, and resided in the family home in Churchtown.

Frank was a graduate of the Boiling Springs High School Class of 1951. He retired from the USAF after 22 years of service and retired again from the Cumberland County Prison as a cook. Frank was also employed by Ashcombe Farm and Greenhouse. He was a life member of the VFW Post 6771 and a life member of the American Legion Post # 0026, both in Dillsburg.

Francis is survived by five brothers, Daniel W. Jr. (wife Lucy) of Carlisle, PA, Richard C., Paul R., Marlin K., and Glenn L. all of Churchtown,  PA; two sisters, Theeta P. Nelson of Chicago, Ill. and Muriel (husband Charles) of Dowd of Newville, PA; and his best friend Glenn Gross of Williams Grove, PA. He was predeceased by 8 brothers, Robert F., Eugene D., Harold W., Albert D., Alvin M., John A., Terry J. and Kenneth R.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Twp. with military honors conducted by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors, 301 Grant St., Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or a charity of your choice.
