Edward S. Calaman, 83, formerly of N. College St. Carlisle, PA died on Thursday, November 1, 2012 in the Harrisburg Hospital. He was born on March 14, 1929 in West Pennsboro Twp., Cumberland County to the late Joseph W. and Edith Rice Calaman.
Ed retired after 53 1/2 years of employment from the Frog Switch Manufacturing Co. in Carlisle. He was a member and usher at the Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. A was a fifty year plus member and a Past Master of St. John’s Lodge #260 F&AM., Carlisle, PA, Ed was a 32 year past Principal Instructor of the 3 rd Masonic District school of instruction of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Harrisburg and he was coroneted in 2006 as a member of the Supreme Council, 33 rd degree.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Myrtle Hutchison Calaman; they just celebrated their wedding anniversary on October 1. Also surviving are a son, John W. Calaman and his wife Diane; a daughter, Edwina C. Horick and her husband Jeffrey both of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Nathan Horick and Michaela Calaman; three step grandchildren, Nicole Galbraith, Gretchen Oates and Brandon Horick; and seven step great grandchildren. He was preceded by his sister Betty Allen and a half brother John Calaman.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM in his church, 528 Garland Dr., Carlisle, PA. Rev. Dr. Jeffrey W. Gibelius and the Rev. Jennifer McKenna will be officiating. There will be a Masonic Services prior to his service at the church. The family will be receiving relatives and friends following the memorial with a Repast being served in the church’s rotunda. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family requests memorial contributions may be made to his church the Second Presbyterian Church, the Alzheimer’s Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Ste 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9638 or to the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Harrisburg, 2701 N. 3nd St., Harrisburg, PA 17105. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA.
