Doris Louise Yeingst

Doris Louise (Zeigler) Yeingst, 95, of Carlisle entered the Church Triumphant on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.  She was born on February 22, 1929 in Carlisle, PA, the daughter of Pearl (Motter) Zeigler Mellinger and Herbert Slothour Zeigler.   

Doris was married to Elmer M. Yeingst for 67 years.   She graduated with the Class of 1947 from Carlisle High School.  She was retired from the Carlisle Borough Police Department and had worked as a cafeteria cook in several Carlisle schools.  She had been very active in her retirement as a Member of the Mount Holly Springs Golden Age and enjoyed traveling with them for many years.  Doris loved to entertain and play cards with many of her friends and family.   She was a member of Henry Chapel and had been a long term member of Grace (Carlisle) United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son Dennis Yeingst and his wife Susan, granddaughter Abigail and husband Jordan Souder and their son Noah, grandson Logan and wife Carter Elizabeth Yeingst and their daughter Mycah, and niece Leighanne Zeigler.  Doris was predeceased by her husband Elmer, brother Franklin L. Zeigler and step father Wilson (Sam) Mellinger. 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024.  The family will greet friends and relatives beginning at 10 AM at Hollinger Funeral Home, in Mount Holly Springs, PA.  A brief service will begin at 10:30 AM.   Interment will be in Mount Holly Springs Cemetery immediately after that service.
