Obituary

Dennis "Denny" B. Etter, 63, of Carlisle, PA, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born, January 24, 1963, in Carlisle, the son of the late Arthur and Nellie (Barrick) Etter.

Dennis is a United States Army Veteran, who served as a Field Artillery & Equipment Expert, with the “Killer Panthers” 4th Battalion 69th Armored Regiment Infantry, while stationed in Germany. He was later promoted to a Sergeant, as a Fire Support Specialist, with the “Kill Tanks” 2D Battalion (Mechanized) 87th Infantry, while stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His dedication and hard work ethic earned him numerous Army achievement ribbons and medals.

Denny retired from PennDOT, in August 2024, after 17 years of service, where he was a Cumberland County Highway Foreman 3 - Bridge Crew Foreman.

Denny loved his family and friends. His beloved companion, Georgette and beloved furry companion, Chloe, were the center of his world and meant everything to Denny. He was an avid listener to Tradio on the Radio, being a part of his daily routine, since he was an adolescent. Denny had a passion for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, discussing politics, hunting, watching NFL football (Steelers), watching NASCAR racing (Denny Hamlin) and listening to bluegrass or country music. Some of his favorite pastimes were spent with his companion; cooking, grilling, visiting historical monuments, going to the beach, attending music concerts, going to the movies, camping and taking his furry companion hiking. Denny also found much joy with hosting holiday gatherings at his home for his beloved children and grandchildren. In addition, Denny always made it a priority to spend quality time with his lifelong best friends, Squirrel and Jake, to play cards, cookout, attend dirt track races, watch football, watch NASCAR racing, work on their motorcycles and vehicles or to just hang out in the garage.

Surviving is his companion, Georgette Breneman, of Carlisle; furry companion, Chloe Etter, of Carlisle; children, Amanda (Braeden) Howard, Matthew (Maggie) Etter, and Ashley Etter; and grandchildren, Cameron (Daly), Parker, Beaux, Cece, Macy, Emerson, Lila, Remi and Komi. Dennis was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Lonnie Etter.

A Burial Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 1:00pm, in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd., Annville, PA 17003. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
