Carlisle

Cynthia Gail Spitman, lovingly known as Cindy, passed away peacefully, leaving behind countless memories and the love of those fortunate enough to know her.

Born on October 3, 1959, in Schenectady, New York, Cindy spent much of her youth moving throughout the country with her parents. Over the years, she called many places home, including Southern California, Alaska, and Pennsylvania, embracing each new chapter with her characteristic strength and determination.

Cindy's career reflected her diverse talents and caring nature. She co-owned a used car dealership before building a career with The Giant Company, where she worked in Non-Resale, Loss Prevention, and Transportation. Later in life, she followed her passion for helping others and became a Registered Nurse, providing compassionate care at Carlisle Hospital and Thornwald Nursing Home.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Charlett Goedde and Alfred Ulrich, as well as her longtime partner, Randy Smith.

She leaves behind her faithful fur baby, Travis; her dear friend of 36 years, Connie Lebo; her friend, Art Line; her sister, Carolle Cox; and Carolle's children, Elizabeth and Paul. In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her two brothers, Frank and George Ulrich.

In recent years, Cindy found great peace and happiness in her home in Wellsboro. She and Travis spent many hours together watching the wildlife outside the stunning full-wall window that she so dearly loved. A creative spirit, Cindy excelled at nearly every craft she pursued. She crocheted beautiful dishcloths, created stunning stained-glass pieces, and eagerly embraced new artistic endeavors whenever inspiration struck.

Cindy loved fiercely and spoke honestly. No one ever had to wonder what was on her mind. She treasured her monthly dinners with Connie and looked forward to their daily conversations. Always seeking ways to serve others, Cindy began preparing to become an EMT after moving to Wellsboro, although she ultimately decided the time was not right. She also cherished her weekly conversations with her new friend, Reverend Jan Hughes.

Those who knew Cindy will remember her generous heart, unwavering loyalty, creativity, and love for both people and animals. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, honesty, and friendship to countless lives.

Though she is no longer physically with us, Cindy's love and spirit remain with those she leaves behind. We take comfort in knowing that she is now our angel in Heaven, watching over all who loved her.

A heartfelt thanks to the Hospice of Central PA Lady Bug Team for the extraordinary love, support, and care they provided. Their compassion, patience, and gentle presence were a source of strength and comfort, and we are forever grateful.
