Charles Farner Jr.

Charles Edward "Ed" Farner, Jr., 79, of Carlisle, PA, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017.  Charles was born September 16, 1938 in Carlisle, PA to the late Charles E. and Regina K. (Dillman) Farner Sr. He was the widower of Janet (Boyer) Farner, who passed away in 2008.

Ed was a graduate of the Boiling Springs High School, Class of 1957, and the Carlisle Commercial College. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Ed was a member of the Carlisle Elks Lodge 578, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1299, Carlisle VFW Post 477, South Mt. American Legion Post 674 and he was a lifetime parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church. An avid fisherman and hunter, Ed greatly enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by a daughter, Louise A. Prince and husband, David, of Tully, NY; best friends, Philip Hoffman and Glenna Trimmer; and his beloved dog, Babes. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Anna, Daniel, Patrick, Olivia and Regina Prince and Andrew, Luke, Kayley and McKenna Farner.  Ed was preceded in death by his children, Michele W. Farner and Charles E. Farner III; daughter in law, Kristen (Fuller) Farner; and his siblings, Marjorie Kramer and John Farner.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, PA 17015, with The Very Rev. William C. Forrey, celebrant. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065. An Elks service will be held  at 7:30 PM followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 8:00 PM.  Burial will be held in the St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, C/O St. Patrick Shrine Church, 152 East Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013 .
