Carrie Helen (Burd) Sundy

Carrie Helen (Burd) Sundy, 90, of Loysville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in her home. She was born August 11, 1936, in Perry County to the late Melvin J. and Gladys (Keller) Burd. Carrie was the widow of Samuel G. Sundy, Sr., who passed away in December of 1989.

Carrie drove school bus for the West Perry School District with the Dennis Dum bus company for over 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering with the Meals on Wheels and delivering in the Perry County area. Carrie was very active throughout her life, she loved playing poker, going to bingo and gun raffles, and the casino. She loved going out to eat, especially every Wednesday and Saturday with her friend. Most importantly Carrie was very family-orientated and loved watching her grandchildren and all their events.

Surviving are her children, Sam G. Sundy, Jr., (Carolyn) of Mechanicsburg, Sharon K. Gross of Elliottsburg, and Sandra Lee Sundy of Carlisle; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Mary Kuhn of Carlisle, Miles Burd of Loysville, and Samuel Burd of Newville. In addition to her husband, Carrie was preceded in death by her sons, John W. Sundy and Robert E. Sundy; granddaughter, Kristen Sundy; and siblings, Katie Jumper, Louise Gutherie, Eugene Burd, and James Burd.

Service details will be announced at a later date. Burial will take place in the Restland Cemetery in Loysville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Landisburg Volunteer Fire Company, 301 E Faculty Ave, Landisburg, PA 17040.
