A. Jane Seymour

February 23, 1935 — September 17, 2023

Carlisle

Alma Jane Stover Seymour, 88, of Carlisle, passed away at her residence on September 17, 2023, of natural causes. Jane was born February 23, 1935, in Carlisle to the late Curtis and Mildred (Swartz) Stover.

Jane was a 1953 graduate of Boiling Springs High School. After graduation she worked for the phone company as an operator. Her roots were in the dairy farm business as her father was a milk hauler. She had numerous stories about how she and her brother helped her father during snow storms and blizzards.  In her mid-20s she and her family joined her father and brother in buying Seover Farms, a 300-acre dairy farm.  A few years later, she and her family moved to the beach town of Lewes, Delaware. It was there that she discovered her love of fishing. She would often catch the most fish, and rough seas did not bother her.  While living in Lewes, she worked in a school cafeteria. For her next venture, she returned to Carlisle to be close to family and friends and worked in the cafeteria at the Claremont Nursing Home. After retirement, Jane helped with feeding calves and chickens on her brother’s farm. During retirement she also found something she really loved – training service dogs with Susquehanna Service Dogs; she also dog-sat friends’ and family’s dogs when they went on vacation. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Community United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School.

Jane is survived by her children, Curtis (Phyllis) Seymour of Georgia, and Julia (Doug) Kettner of Oregon; grandchildren, Neal Seymour and Matthew Brown;  a sibling, Jean Stover, of Carlisle; sister-in-law, Julia Ann Stover, of Carlisle; as well as a niece, nephews, and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her beloved brother, John L. Stover.

Services will be held at Good Shepherd Community United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 21, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Shepherd Community United Methodist. Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.
