Patricia Rode

Patricia A. Rode, 74, formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 in Chapel Pointe of Carlisle. Born December 10,1945 in Hanover, PA to the late Harry Forry and Romaine Elizabeth (Miller) Miller, she was the widow of Ralph A. Rode Jr, who passed away January 3, 1992.

A 1963 graduate of Eichelberger Senior High School, Pat then earned a Bachelor’s of Education in 1967 and a Master’s of Education in 1971, both from Shippensburg State College. She taught 4th grade in the Mechanicsburg Area School District at the Upper Allen Elementary School for 22 years, retiring in January 1991. Pat volunteered for the American Red Cross of the Susquehanna Valley and was a member of the Mechanicsburg Museum Association, PSEA, NEA and the Trio Chapter # 544 Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are her nephews, Christopher Wentz of Danville, KY and Dr. Brian Wentz of Harrodsburg, KY; great nieces and nephews, Alice, Ava, Zach, Owen, Jacob, Oliver, and Gianna; and cousin, Barbara Baum (Kenneth) of Mechanicsburg, PA and her dear friends, Duane and Lisa Swartz of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 24, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev. Richard L. Reese and Chaplain Linda Slusser officiating. Interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Twp. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PA Breast Cancer Coalition, 2397 Quentin Rd., Suite B, Lebanon, PA 17042.
