Joan Townsend

Joan (Orris) Townsend, 78, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at her residence. She was born October 28, 1939 in Kauffman Station, PA to the late Clinton and Pauline Orris. Joan is the widow of Frederick Townsend, who passed away September 30, 2017 after 60 years of marriage.

Joan attended Brown's Mill Elementary School in Kaufman Station and graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1956. A member of the Bonnybrook Riding Club for many years, she loved horses and liked to ride trails.

She is survived by her son, William K. Townsend of Newville; four grandchildren, Ashtyne, Adam, Tyler and Hannah Jo; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Joan is preceded in death by her son, Fred W. Townsend, who passed away October 7, 2017 and sister, Bonnie Lou.
