Deepest sympathy to the Hair family. Dixie and I graduated the same year but me from Carlisle so we were competitors but friends. My mom, Ruth Shenk, especially sends her thoughts to Jeanne for the loss of a daughter.

Dear Jeanne, Doug & Kathy, and all the Family,Deepest sympathies and prayers for you all in this time of tragic loss. Dixie was one of the kindest, warmest friends I met in my early years at Allenberry. She was always ready to help, or chat, or laugh. The world was a better place with her in it. I will always remember our many good times together, and I pray you will find comfort in your memories.

I played sports with Dixie in high school and quite a few years after. We participated in a lot of softball games and tournaments. One of my fondest memories is Dixie handing out “atomic fireballs” before games to her teammates. With the fireball always came the enthusiastic mantra, “Get fired up”. Playing softball with Dixie and that crew was one of the best times in my life - the comradery and friendships. I hope that the Hair family will be able to access their “best times” when the pain and sadness seems like it’s too much to bear.

Dixie and the Hair family were part of our childhood - living nearby, sharing school experiences, having dads who worked together. As an adult, Dixie helped my mom by taking care of her dog when Mom wanted to visit relatives. She was always kind to Lucky and especially kind to my mother. I'm ever grateful for that. My momma-heart goes out to Mrs. Hair and all who loved Dixie.
