Cindy Cressler

Cindy Lynne Cressler, 62, died peacefully at home Friday morning, holding the hand of her loving husband, Terry Lockard. Cindy and Terry found each other late in life and married in 2005, but for Cindy it was worth the wait — he became her best friend, and in the last six years, her loving caregiver.

The daughter of William L. Cressler, Sr. and Della J. Hurlbert Cressler, Cindy was predeceased by her father (2013). In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her brother Bill (wife Lorie), nephew Nathan (wife Aly), niece Natasha, Terry’s children Terra and Keith, three grandchildren from their blended family, one great nephew, a host of life-long friends, and her four-legged, ever-faithful companion Ruby.

Cindy was a bit of a renaissance gal! She graduated from Boiling Springs high school (her “Bubbler” spirit was always on display with her favorite color purple), received her undergraduate degree from Shippensburg University, and earned the title of Certified Public Accountant. She chose a career with TE Connectivity (“AMP", at that time, and later "Tyco”), and retired after 34 years in Accounts Payable/Receivable. As a trusted employee and consultant, she traveled to England, Japan, and China, helping to implement TE’s SAP program.

Her roots were firmly in Gardners, however, where she, her father and brother designed and built her life-long home. As a “gregarious Gardners girl,” with best girlfriend and long-time housemate Pam Roda-Kline, Cindy enjoyed life. She was a successful hunter, gardener, and cook. She loved beach trips with Pam and the rest of the Roda clan, cooking for her family during the holidays, and spending time at home. She shined planning her summer happy hour and annual ornament exchange; picking just the right ornament became quite competitive! When she met and married Terry, she happily folded him into the life she’d created and was truly contented. He — and we — will miss her.

Cindy’s memorial will be arranged at the convenience of the family, and in lieu of flowers, Terry asks that you donate to the YMCA of Carlisle (carlislefamilyymca.org), or National Aphasia Association (aphasia.org) in Cindy’s memory.

My deepest sympathy to the families of Cindy.  She was a great person and dear friend from Shippensbugh State College. We became friends when we were partnered together on the cheerleading squad.
