Harrison J. “Dube” Schlusser, 81, of South Middleton Twp., Mt. Holly Springs passed away Friday morning, June 15 at his home.He was the widower of Catherine Louise Schlusser who passed away August 15, 1991. He was born August 10, 1930 in Carlisle to the late Harrison & Barbara Minnich Schlusser Sr. Dube was a retired employee of the Carlisle Barracks and a life member of the following: South Mountain American Legion # 674, Carlisle VFW # 477, AM VETS of Carlisle. He was a “prisoner of war,” in the Korean Conflict, serving in the Army and receiving the Purple Heart award.
He is survived by his wife Virginia A. Schlusser and three sons, Lynn A. & wife Joan Schlusser of Mechanicsburg; Michael C. & wife Deborah L. Schlusser of Grantham; and Erle S. & wife Stacey Schlusser of Plainfield. Also surviving are three stepchildren, Lori A. & husband Glenn Myers of Carlisle; Theresa L. Armolt of Shippensburg and Edwin B. & wife Lynn McDilda of Carlisle. Additional survivors include: 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; his brother Paul Schlusser and sister Esther White, both of Carlisle.
Dube was predeceased by his son Eugene A. Schlusser; three brothers, Charles, Marlin and Lee; and 3 half brothers, Sherwood, Donald and Howard and his half sister Ruth.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 19 at 10:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs with the Rev. Denny Killinger officiating. Interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, with honors by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. There will be a viewing Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
