Alice C. Smith, 75, formerly of East Orange St., Mt. Holly Springs and Newville, PA died on Friday, April 20, 2012 in the Green Ridge Village Retirement Center, Newville, PA. She was born in Mt. Holly Springs, PA on August 1, 1936 to the late John M. and Charlotte Alda Hockley Nelson. Alice was the widow of Ralph E. Smith who passed on Jan. 5, 2008 and she was preceded by her step-father Robert L. Sowers.
Alice worked as a saleswoman for the former Henry’s Dept. Store in Mt. Holly Springs and Hill’s Dept. Store in Carlisle, PA. She was a member of the former Mt. Holly Springs Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had many interests in life: sewing, crafts, floral arranging (Cemetery Wreaths) and had a very large doll collection.
She is survived by her son; Robert E. Smith and his wife Lisa of Newville; two sisters, Shirley Gainey of Tarboro, NC and Louise Myers and her husband Wayne of Landisburg, PA; three granddaughters, Amy Eppley, Chandra Eisenhuth and Heather Booher; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA. Officiating will be the Rev. Richard L. Reese. Interment will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Tuesday in the funeral home from 9:30 AM until time of services.
